Und jetzt habe ich dieses Video noch mal angeschaut und unglaublich hab ich alles verstanden und vielleicht bin ich jetzt auf dem gleichen Sprachniveau wie du zum Zeitpunkt, als du dieses Video aufgenommen hast. I'm a native German speaker who moved to the UK when I was 9 and had never spoken English. Gender was simply a matter of being a part of a word to me but the more proficient I became in English the more I realised the beauty of English in that it's almost entirely genderless outside of the use of personal pronouns. Yes, there are adjectival remnants like the blond man and the blonde women but they are few and very few native English speakers even know about them when they write. As a very fluent English speaker, I've spent nearly 50 years on and off in the UK but worked a few years in Germany and Austria, I recognise how clunky German is. It's impossible to be precise in German in any economic way when it comes to science and technology. Gender and case interaction is absolutely crazy in German and I remember trying to teach my English children German and how baffled they were by it. They weren't just baffled but the complexity upset them.

I was watching a sketch from Martina Hill's "Knallerfrauen" where she was playing a mother whose two kids constantly bickered. In a moment of frustration, she said, "Es ist immer das gleiche mit euch! Der eine gönnt dem anderen den Dreck unter den Fingernägeln nicht!" I immediately understood what she was trying to say.

Ich habe auch in kurzer Zeit Deutsch gelernt - ich war aber 15 und noch in die Schule, also wurde ich quasi gezwungen Deutsch zu lernen lol. Und das wirst du mir nicht glauben : obwohl ich in Deutschland lebe, habe ich die Sprache trotzdem verlernt! Wenn man es nicht übt, vergisst man es! Weiter so :)

For me, my interest in a foreign language came when I was in 3rd grade elementary school (1997) after 'realising' that there were TV channels that had German as a voice over the original tone. It was on the former TV sports channel 'DSF', when they'd brodcasted race- and rally brodcasts, that I'd liked to watch as a child whit a ever burning love in all kinds of motorvehicles. So I'd figured out that this was English and wanted to learn it because I wanted to understand what they'd said.^^ Luckiely I heard that English would be introduced as 2nd language with the beginning of 5th grade and so I'd enjoy learning English from back then up to C2.^^ And it doesn't bother me in any way, that the 3rd language (French...) we had to learn from 7th grade on, I can't NEARLY speak nor write or understand as I can with English now, like it is a '2nd motherthongue' to me.😃😃😇 But beside that: Man, you're really good (!!) in German for learning it only since 6 months.😀👍 Buuut... - speaking it is one side, to write it the other...!?😁🤪☺

Ich lerne seit fast fünf Monaten, allein zu Hause. Ich bin sehr aufregend denn Ich kann fast alles verstehen ohne Untertitel lesen. Wann habe Ich drei Monaten vor dieser Video gesehen, Ich kann nur vier oder fünf Worte verstehen. Aber jetzt. . . . Fast alles. Es tut mir leid für meine schlechte Deutsch.

It’s wild. I also live in NI, studied those subjects in Alevel, went to Uni for mech eng, love travelling and met amazing german friends and have a dream to live and work in Germany. I’m 24 so a bit late to starting my learning journey but will def check out more of your vids. Very inspirational given our similar backgrounds ngl

Ich find man hört einen Akzent, aber einen deutschen Akzent komischerweise. Du klingst irgendwie nach "München", ein bisschen wie Thomas Müller.

I'm already using chat gdp to explain things for me. Learning German with English being my mother tongue is extremely difficult. My pronunciation of words is the best in class but I am struggling to not fall behind as far as gramer goes. Thanks for all your work good job. 🙌
